Independence Gweg

July 3rd.

Gweg woke up very excited. It was one of his favorite times of the year. The Fourth of July! It was one of Gweg's favorites for three reasons. Gweg loved to see the fireworks display. Gweg loved to eat the food his father cooked out on the grill. And Gweg loved his country.

Gweg ran out to the family room to watch some TV. When he turned it on, the picture he saw on the screen was distorted.

Gweg tried adjusting the dials on his TV but they didn't work. Gweg tried flipping through the other channels, but they were distorted too.

Gweg began to wonder what the problem could possible be, but no sooner than five minutes later, did he get his answer.

The ground be shaking and things started to fall of shelves. Gweg had never experienced an earthquake before and ran outside.

All of Gweg's neighbors were looking up in the sky. Gweg looked up to and saw the biggest surprise of his life.

Up in the sky, was a spaceship the size of a small city.

Gweg couldn't believe what he was seeing. Gweg had always been a believer in other life out in the universe, but he never thought in a million years that he would see any of them visit the earth.

The spaceship had settled itself it seemed, as it came to a stop and hovered over the building that was in the center of town.

Gweg had a real bad feeling about the spaceship. He ran inside to get his parents up.

Gweg went into their room and shook their bed.

"Mom! Dad! You've got to come outside!"

Gweg's father woke up and looked at his son.

He asked, "What's the matter Gweg? Did you have a bad dream again?"

Gweg said, "No dad, you need to come outside right away!"

Gweg's parents got out of bed and put their clothes on. They followed Gweg outside.
When Gweg's parents saw the spaceship, they had different reactions. Gweg's dad just looked at with his mouth wide open. Gweg's mom simple fainted.

Twenty minutes later, Gweg's mom woke up.

Gweg's dad looked at his wife and said, "Honey, we need to get out of town soon as possible. Go inside, get some food and water. I'll get some sleeping bags, the radio, and the flashlights. Gweg, you get some batteries and the cell phone."

Gweg ran inside and got what his dad asked. Gweg decided he needed to get one other thing to.

His trusty laptop computer. Gweg considered himself to be pretty handy when it came to computers. Gweg knew how to write programs and hack into other systems. Although Gweg would never do such things illegal.

Gweg and his parents got their stuff into the car and headed out of town.

Gweg asked his dad, "Where are we going to go?"

Gweg's dad said, "I don't know son, but we need to get out of the city, I know that much."

Nineteen seconds later, the car stalled and died.

Gweg screamed out, "Daddy, what's wrong?"

"I don't no son, the car won't start, we need to find shelter immediately."

The got out of the car. Gweg brought his laptop out with him.

The center of the spaceship began opening up. A green light poured out and shot towards the ground. Seconds later, a fireball shot out.

The fireball destroyed the building that the center of the spaceship was hovering above. The fireball then spread out, expanding in all directions.

Gweg's father saw a cellar door 30 yards ahead of them.

"Quick, get to the cellar!"

Gweg, being younger and faster, had ran ahead of his parents, and got to the door first. He opened it up and went inside. He turned around at the opening to see his parents.

The fire was catching up to them. They were 15 yards away when his father shouted, "Gweg, close the door in get in there!"

Gweg shouted back, "No, you guys can make it!"

A moment later, Gweg's parents were engulfed by the fire..

Gweg screamed and closed the cellar door.

July 4th.

Gweg didn't know that he had fallen asleep down in the cellar. When he woke up, his first thoughts were that he had a terrible dream. Once he gotten fully awake, he knew that the alien threat was a cold hard reality.

Gweg ventured out the cellar door and took a look around.

The city that he had grew up in was completely destroyed. He had to force himself to look at the spot where his parents had perished. There was no sign that they were there. Nothing but ash had laid in that spot. It was as though they had never existed.

Gweg fell to his knees and burst into tears. As he was crying, he heard a sound coming from the sky.

Fearful that the aliens were coming back, Gweg got up and began to ran. As the sound grew louder, Gweg knew it wasn't a spaceship.

It was a helicopter.

Gweg looked up in the air and saw the copter. Gweg waved his arms and shouted to get it's attention. The helicopter landed. A man got out and introduced himself.

"Hi. I'm Richard the Pilot."

Gweg introduced himself and told Richard his story. Richard listened to Gweg's tale with a sympathetic ear.

"That's a very sad story Gweg. Listen, I've been assigned by the President to search this city for any survivors. So, hop into the copter and you can help me look."

Gweg said, "Ok. I'll do that."

Gweg and Richard got into the copter and searched for more survivors. They only found a few more.

After they found the survivors, Gweg decided to ask Richard some questions.

"So, where are we going?"

Richard said, "Well, you're probably not going to believe this, but we are headed to Area 51."

Gweg said," Wow, the actual Area 51! That's amazing!"

Richard said, "It sure is. That's were everyone is heading. And the craziest thing is, they actually have one of the aliens smaller spaceships there. It's one of their fighters."

Gweg was surprised to hear the legend of Area 51 was true. But then again, given all that has happened, he thought he shouldn't be so surprised.

A couple hours later, they arrived at Area 51.

Richard took Gweg to meet the President.

"Mr. President, this is Gweg. He was the one who helped me search for survivors in his city."

The President looked over Gweg.

"Thanks for your help son. Richard told me about you over the radio on his way back, I'm sorry to hear about your parents. We have lost far too many good people from this. We are trying to figure out how we can take the alien spaceships out."

Richard pointed to a posterboard.

"This is a picture of the earth. This thing above it is the mother ship. We know this from the satellite pictures we got back of the mothership itself."

Looking at the picture, Gweg got a spectacular idea.

Gweg asked, "Does the spaceship that's here work?"

Richard looked at the President, and then back at Gweg.

"Yeah it does. Why?"

Gweg said, "If I hook my laptop up to the alien fighter here and we fly it up to the mothership and dock with it, I can download a virus into the mother ship that will be transmitted to all of the spacecrafts here on earth."

The President didn't look convinced. "I'm not sure something like that could work, but we need to do something. The only problem is, we don't have anyone to fly the alien fighter."

Richard turned to the President.

"I think I can do it."

The President said, "All right, let's do it."

A couple of hours later, everything was ready.

Gweg and Richard were in the cockpit of the alien fighter.

Richard asked, "Are you ready for this?"

Gweg said, "As ready as I'll ever be."

Richard started up the ship and headed to outer space.

They managed to get inside of the mothership.

Gweg turned to Richard, with a worried look on his face.

"Uh Richard, we got a problem here."

"What is it Gweg?"

"Well, the thing is. It's almost silly, but I never really thought about it before, but uh..."

"What's the problem Gweg?"

"Well, I can't hook my computer up to anything in here. There really is no earth to alien technology adapter available, and well, we're pretty screwed here."

Richard just stared at Gweg.

"You mean to tell me that you let us fly all the way up here without making sure your plan was going to work?"

Gweg just nodded.

Richard let out a laugh.

Gweg asked, "Why are you laughing?"

Richard said, "Because I knew your stupid little plan wasn't going to work."

Gweg was stunned. "Then why did you..."

Richard finished his question. "Why did I fly us up here then. Well, the thing is, I'm not really Richard the Pilot. I'm Richard the Alien!"

Richard the Alien pulled off his face, which turned out to be a mask.

Richard turned his alien face towards Gweg.

"Ever stop to ask yourself how I could fly this alien spacecraft so well?"

Gweg was scared. "But you helped all of those people get to Area 51."

Richard the Alien laughed. "I know. I wanted to get them all into one place. Easier for us to exterminate your race."

Gweg screamed, "Why did you bring me up here?"

Richard said, "Because the Queen wants to kill an earthling herself!"

Richard the Alien brought Gweg to his Queen.

The Queen looked over Gweg and said, "Ah nice. A succulent earthling to sink my taste tube into."

A snake like tube lashed out of the Queen's head and penetrated Gweg's eye. The taste tube started sucking Gweg's brain right out of his skull.

Gweg was still alive during all of this and was screaming.

The Queen said, "This one is yummy. He was well fed on the earth. What part of the planet was he from?"

Richard answered, "He was from the United States."

The Queen did the alien version of a smile and said, "Gorlox Bless the USA."

The Queen finished eating all of Gweg's brains.

The alien race then invaded the earth, killed off all of the survivors and consumed every resource the earth had to offer.

But Gweg didn't care, because Gweg and the rest of humanity were dead.

THE END
